Are you an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer OR Draughter with a problem-solving mindset and expertise in intricate components and systems? Join Ion Beam Services (IBS)—an innovative and growing SME at the cutting edge of ion implantation technology for the global semiconductor industry.

About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to work on the design, development, and refinement of original capital equipment, with each machine valued at £3m-£4m. With IBS bringing the design and manufacturing of these highly complex systems in-house, you’ll contribute to transforming prototypes into manufacturable products while solving technical challenges along the way.

Your Impact:

• Convert a library of legacy models, assemblies, and drawings to IBS standards using SolidWorks.
• Collaborate on the design of intricate machine components and systems such as castings, fabrications, pneumatics, drive systems, and mechanical assemblies.
• Support the transition of prototypes to production-ready designs and into streamlined manufacturing processes.
• Help shape the future of a business poised to significantly increase turnover as it scales its operations.

What You’ll Need:

• Strong SolidWorks experience with a focus on mechanical assemblies and diverse materials.
• A proactive, problem-solving approach to design challenges.
• Background in intricate or capital equipment designs with moving parts (ideal).
• Flexible start/finish times and a willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team of four.
