DC WAREHOUSE MANAGER

Job Description
1. Day to Day Operations of the Warehouse · Strategic daily plan for department operations including warehousing, logistics and transport operations · Continuously review operational process guidelines and co-ordinate the internal audit process, within respective business units · Ensure adherence to legal requirements with regards to supplier contracts and statutory requirements, E.g. Customs, OHS, Road transport, Aviation security. · Ensure full adherence to the companies prescribed policies and procedures within the business units · Identify potential risk areas within the daily operation and implement mitigation strategies · Cooperate with other departments as deemed necessary to exceed client requirements · Ensure internal and client SOPs are in place and continual improvement initiatives are implemented · Evaluating feasibility of projects and manage implementation thereof 2. Provide Efficient Customer Service · Facilitate discrepancies between the client and Rhenus and resolve these discrepancies speedily where possible and where you have the authority to do so · Cooperate with other departments on process improvement (Customs entries, invoicing, warehouse, logistics, etc.) · Cooperate with third parties to ensure customer needs are met (E.g. Customs, third party service providers) · Continuously investigate additional value-added products and process specific for customer needs. (Continuous improvement) · Manage KPI / SOP / SLA processes and reporting with set agreed performance parameters · Where ISO procedures are in place it has to be maintained and the manager is accountable for the areas under his control · Additional warehouses and operational departments may be added to the portfolio to manage as and when it is required by management 3. Management of the Departments Financials · Monitor and optimize utilization and performance of all resources in line with budget · Manage departments P&L that its aligned with budget and address any anomalies that are identified 4. Staff Management · Complete staff replacement documents as needed to replace staff · Acquire and retain top staff whenever possible · Assist with the projections and development and strategic HR plans (Including - career paths and supporting learning paths for occupations) and succession planning in department(s) · Optimise individual employee performance through effective leadership, performance management, coaching, development and training, motivating and supporting staff · Manage periodic performance appraisals · Chair disciplinary hearings · Entrench Rhenus values within the team 5. Management of Information · Utilise Information management systems for decisions relating to operational management (E.g. Warehouse management system, Performance management / appraisal tool) Draw reports, interpret, make decisions, feedback etc · Identify information needs and suggest solutions regarding the management of information and system improvements required · Ensure work is carried out in accordance with documented workflow process and that any changes are brought to managements attention to change the process flow where required · Disseminate information to direct reports and ensure it filters down to teams on warehouse floor Knowledge & Experience · Matric or Senior Certification equivalent · Manage inbound / outbound logistics and supply chain for a minimum of 10-15 years · Good knowledge of the customs act and processes. · Experience in Facilities management · Exposure to International and global logistics
