Job Description
Duties & Responsibilities Day-to-day: Perform service maintenance and repairs on equipment/machinery according to sound engineering practices and equipment specifications. Read diagrams/schematics for work procedures. Perform preventative maintenance work. Perform inspections in accordance with the Mine Health and Safety Act regulations, manufacturing, and company standards. Report all defects and breakdowns on equipment and machinery to the Foreman and FSM. Develop, modify, construct, and install related equipment required for the safe operation of all engineering equipment. Identify spares requirements and order according to departmental procedure. Keep proper inventory of parts (Field Mechanics). Communicate with clients and supervisors to inform on maintenance activities performed and re-start of equipment. Create and maintain job cards. Provide feedback on work performed by the Workshop. Work overtime, standby, and be available for call-outs when required. Physical Job Demands: Exposure to weather hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions. Atmospheric conditions fumes, noxious odors, dusts, mists, and gases. Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when applicable. Required to travel to job sites for a week or more at a time in a designated area. Must be able to work long periods of time, including nights and weekends. Must have efficient eye-hand coordination. Must be able to perform physical labor involving frequent lifting (over 25 kgs.), carrying, bending, and shoveling. Desired Experience & Qualifications Additional Requirements: Good verbal and written communication in English. Be independent, proactive thinker and have the ability to do own job planning. Ability to work under pressure, multitask, and prioritize. Strong commitment to Quality, Health, Safety, & Environment (QHSE). Shows a positive work ethic/attitude. Minimum Requirements: Grade 12/N3. Recognised Diesel Mechanic Trade Certificate. Recognised apprenticeship. Valid drivers license (EB/08). 2 years post-apprenticeship experience. 5 years working experience with Earthmoving machinery such as ADTs, Excavators, Dozers, TLBs, and LDVs.
