As our Head of SAF Intelligence, you will report to the CEO and both lead the team & be hands-on in developing the data intelligence, models, and AI tools of the company, helping shape the future of the SAF industry through data-driven insights. Collaborating closely with our leadership and operational teams, you and your team will design and implement models, tools, and strategies that unlock the potential of data for decision-making, forecasting, and optimizing SAF supply chains. This role involves expertize in the SAF production methodologies , and leading the analysis and interpretation of complex datasets and unstructured information. You will lead the development of the strategic SAF knowledge base for ATOBA, managing a data scientist and junior analyst/intern, and contributing to the scaling of the SAF ecosystem. You are passionate about Sustainable Aviation Fuel, the details of its numerous production processes, feedstocks, market dynamics, and you love leveraging all sorts of data and intel with the latest techs and tools? This role is for you The problem you will solve with us: Currently, the SAF market is facing challenges in expanding at the rate demanded by environmental needs and regulatory mandates. Producers need long-term, stable pricing contracts to amortize their investments, while airlines seek assurance of optimum market prices to a benchmark index and mitigated technology and execution risks. This conflict of expectations does not enable SAF production projects to be financed and built. If we don’t solve this issue, we will never reach our climate goals for which aviation needs to ramp up from a $2B of SAF market in 2025 to a forecasted $400B market in 2050. We are the midstream Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) reseller and investor that provides airlines and jet fuel providers with long-term SAF contracts at an optimized market pricing indexes thanks to demand and supply aggregation. By doing so we solve the financial dilemma between the airline and the new technology SAF producers, and unlock the SAF production scaling that aviation needs to meet its decarbonization targets. We are looking for an autonomous and entrepreneurial Head of SAF Intelligence to convert the consistently evolving knowledge and data into valuable information. Why entrepreneurial you may ask? Because the market is nascent and growth is required both on airlines, producers, and midstream players. Your versatility to apprehend and transform the complex SAF valuestream challenges into concrete and actionable information is the key to our success. What You Will Do 1- Market and Sector Analysis: Continuously develop an overall understanding of the SAF sector, including market dynamics, technological advancements, feedstocks and industry trends. Develop and organize our knowledge data lake with all available internal and external SAF related documentation Analyze trends, forecasts, scenarios and deliver well structured analysis written documents. 2- Advanced Data Intelligence and AI Platform: Lead the development and deployment of our AI-powered platform leveraging structured and unstructured internal and external data Understand market dynamics, including cost, prices, feedstocks, and incentives from the large amount of public and internal data. Build internal reference models (financial, GHG, availability, etc) for the different SAF pathways and feedstocks in collaboration with senior stakeholders. Monitor legislative developments, including mandates, certifications, caps, and fines. 3- Upstream and Downstream Support: Assist the upstream and downstream team in marketing material, geographic client segmentation, cost analysis and SAF price negotiations. Provide insights and responses to external stakeholders, including potential investors and airline partners. Lead market monitoring efforts, including on technical, industrial, process, & regulatory topics, and provide the team with digests 4- Thought Leadership: Serve as a thought leader by contributing to the creation of high-quality, market-relevant content that enhances ATOBA’s reputation in the SAF industry. Who You Are Expertise and Skills Must have strong experience in Sustainable Aviation Fuel market intelligence and process engineering, ideally with experience across multiple SAF production pathways. Experience with structured modelling, AI-driven platforms, tools for market and trend analysis, and data visualization tools Exceptional analytical, synthetic, and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience in content creation for marketing and thought leadership purposes. Masters in chemical engineering, energy systems engineering, or mechanical engineering.
