Specialist Engineer-Protection ONBOARDING YOU TO THE COMPANY At Nexans, our global vision is to electrify the future. We deliver EPCI turnkey projects anywhere in the world, utilizing the best tools, equipment, and skilled personnel to install and service those cables. WELCOMING YOU TO THE TEAM Located in Norway and France, the Survey & Protection team consists of more than 50 highly competent and diverse members. Due to the unique engineering skills of our team, we can plan and execute marine cable installation projects worldwide, overcoming environmental constraints and client requirements. Our team is expanding, and we are looking for a new colleague. GETTING A FLYING START To succeed in the Survey & Protection team, you need experience in the energy, maritime, marine, Oil & Gas, offshore, or construction fields. You should have worked in project-driven companies related to cable/pipe protection or seabed intervention, protection, and survey. Experience with interconnectors, windfarms, or power from shore is ideal. You will ensure quality and safety during projects and demonstrate leadership and problem-solving abilities. HOW YOU MAKE AN IMPACT As a Specialist Engineer-Protection, your role will be crucial in ensuring the success of our marine protection projects. Here’s how you can make a significant impact: Planning and Design Develop technical solutions for cable protection and provide expertise during planning and execution phases. Assist the Marine Lead Engineer in monitoring the schedule, cost, and resources for installation. Perform a thorough contract review to understand protection requirements, equipment, and project milestones. Provide input on the protection aspect of the installation budget. Define technical specifications for subcontractor work during planning. Cable Installation Coordinate the utilization of equipment such as CAPJET and Cable plough for protection operations. Supervise and support operations of CAPJET and Cable ploughs for cable installation. Plan for the installation of concrete mattresses to prepare and protect cable crossings. Follow up with subcontractors. Provide offshore support during the installation phase. Maintain effective communication with subcontractors throughout the cable installation process. Survey and Verification Utilize remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) to conduct surveys and verify the effectiveness of cable protection measures. Identify and address potential issues or vulnerabilities in the cable protection system. Generate detailed reports on survey findings and provide recommendations for necessary remedial actions. Ensure assessments of protection requirements are conducted, evaluated for feasibility, and aligned with contract/client specifications. YOUR STARTING POINT BSc or MSc degree in Engineering. 5-10 years of relevant experience; extensive experience may compensate for formal education. Problem-solving skills and the ability to think outside the box. Ability to work at high speeds and meet short deadlines. Self-driven and capable of taking charge of tasks.
