Capability Unit Metrea Strategic Mobility (MSM) operates a fleet of KC-135 aircraft, offering an air-to-air refueling service that seamlessly, safely, and professionally integrates into military aviation training and operations. Position Summary C-135FR Subject Matter Expert acting in support of Metrea Strategic Mobility (MSM) through academic and hands-on instruction of the C-135FR and its systems. Roles and Responsibilities Knowledge of Aircraft Systems (Electrical, hydraulic, pneumatics, fuel, etc.) Proper Operation of the aircraft’s Communication, Navigation, and Surveillance equipment and systems. Conduct On-Hand Training with personnel on how to properly operate a C-135FR. Normal, abnormal, and emergency situation considerations. Be the Subject Matter Expert for the C-135FR Aircraft Fleet. Attend reoccurring virtual meetings with MSM aircrew (pilots and air refueling operators) and staff to speak on C-135FR operational procedures (normal, abnormal, and emergency), aircraft systems, and other issues as required. Explain the layout of the C-135FR cockpit. Proper switchology. Safe operation of the aircraft in all phases of flight. All other duties that support C-135FR Fleet integration. Provide technical support during flights in Nimes, France to assist with Ferry flight preparations. Be an observer/advisor for aircrew, available to support their questions/issues encountered by MSM Aircrew during/post flight using C-135FR procedural knowledge. Able and available to fly onboard C-135FR aircraft. Provide feedback to the MSM Staff on aircrew progress via weekly telecons. Skills and Experience Education: College degree or equivalent. Experience: 9 years working with the C-135FR aircraft as a navigator. Proven and demonstrable attention to detail skills. Excellent problem-solving skills, being able to determine error cause and determine proper corrective action. Must be able to take initiative and work independently. Excellent communication skills, the ability to read and understand the information presented in writing, diagrams, and schematics. Ability and availability to fly onboard C-135FR aircraft from Nimes, France to U.S. Stateside location. Must be able to accomplish all duties with little or no assistance. Must have good command of the English language, oral and written. Certifications: Required license - Past C-135FR rating and until at least 2020. Valid Driver’s License. Current Passport. Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products (specifically Word and Excel). Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position, typical working hours are 9-hour days, mainly in the evening when not flying or in the U.S. Hours and work shifts may change in accordance with department and business needs. Exempt Employees must have the ability to be on-call and available, as business needs require. Non-Exempt employees may be required to work over 40 hours per week with approval from the department manager. Travel Travel requirements are: 25 – 35%. Work Location(s) Nimes, France. Work Environment This job operates in both an office setting and onboard aircraft during flight operations.
