Job Description
Minimum requirements: Will be responsible for all inbound and outbound logistics. Will report directly to the OPERATIONS DIRECTOR KPI DUTIES 1. Planning and coordinating the packaging and logistics of all completed components or machinery to maximize the logistic strategy for the projects on hand (road/sea/air freight). There could be several projects running concurrently. This could be local or abroad equipment. Collaborating with the allocated projects manager and factory manager. 2. Coordinate with internal departments and/or external suppliers to supply standard or custom crating/palletizing solutions to optimize/provide suitable protection for goods in transit within allocated budgets reducing wastage. 3. Compile detailed lists of all goods packed with necessary photographs / drawings / weights of all associated parts (inclusive of smalls fixings etc). 4. Correct sealing and labeling of crates/boxes/ pallets to ensure correct allocation of goods to associated projects. 5. Organizing factory storage space alongside the factory manager to maximize floor space whilst goods remain on the premises (prior to shipment). Reduce movement of finished goods to avoid unnecessary handling. 6. Negotiate with freight service providers to provide the requirements set out in the project contract / handover documentation. Shipments need to coincide with the master project plan. This will include planning the packing / loading window to meet shipment dates. This may also include smaller parcels / packages that are sourced from several local or international suppliers. 7. Pre-planning of load to allow mirror loading of goods into a container or truck in allocated space. Keeping the factory manager updated to ensure sufficient time for planning. 8. Oversea / monitor the loading of goods taking necessary photographs as required. Any damage to be noted and reported to senior management. 9. For all export shipments, oversea fumigation certification and container sealing. 10. For imports, advise factory in advance before any shipment arrival. This will include allocating space to unpack and store goods received. Checking goods to delivery note and correctly tagging goods to associated projects. 11. Manage all associated paperwork for shipments. This includes but is not limited to import or export documentation, arrangement of any taxes or duties, packing lists and/or delivery notes, invoices etc. All original paperwork to be filled in correct master project file. 12. Tracking and Reporting to the projects / management team on a regular basis as to the progress of the shipment. 13. Liaising with customer`s shipping agent to provide all administrative paperwork for smooth clearance and delivery of the associated shipments. Keeping the client up to date with the shipment highlighting any change to the planned schedule. 14. Working hours from time to time outside of normal working hours to ensure loads are correctly packed, strapped and covered. Consultant: Angie Botes - Dante Personnel Greenstone
