Job Description
Overview We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in designing, building, and maintaining our data infrastructure. You will work closely with data scientists and analysts to ensure that our data is accessible, reliable, and optimized for performance. This position requires a strong understanding of data engineering principles and the ability to work in an Agile environment. About the ideal candidate: Hands-on experience writing Production quality code in Scala (preferred) and Spark. Hands-on experience on big data technologies, including the MapR filesystem, Apache Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, and Impala. Proven experience with the Apache Spark Architecture and components. Hands-on experience on scripting languages including Bash scripting and Python. Familiarity with different kinds of database technologies, including SQL. Previous work with NoSQL databases, like MongoDB, will be a plus. Solid knowledge of build tools, particularly Maven and SBT. Experience in building and maintaining DevOps pipelines will be a plus. Cloud: Hands-on experience with Azure cloud technologies. Hands-on experience with Azure Databricks and Databricks SQL. Qualifications Education: University degree in computer science or related field or relevant experience. Professional experience of 4 – 9 years. Knowledge of Software Design under Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, etc.). Proven experience in designing and maintaining applications using Scala, (Py)Spark, MAPR distribution, Hadoop ecosystem, Kafka, and Impala. Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and Databricks. Other: Good English verbal and written communication skills. Strong team player with a collaborative mindset. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Fast, thorough, and autonomous learner who understands prioritization. Innovative thinker with the ability to maintain a proactive and positive attitude in a fast-paced, changing environment.
