Operations Manager/Steel Industry

Operations Manager – STEEL Industry Location: Cape Town Salary: R60 000 Gross (Permanent Position) Overseeing Production: Manage all aspects of steel production processes, ensuring efficiency, quality, and adherence to safety regulations. Resource Allocation: Optimize the allocation of resources including manpower, machinery, and materials to meet production targets within budget constraints. Quality Control: Implement and maintain quality control measures to ensure that products meet industry standards and customer specifications. Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve production processes to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance product quality. Inventory Management: Supervise inventory levels of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods to ensure smooth operations and timely delivery. Personnel Management: Lead and develop a team of production staff, including hiring, training, performance evaluation and fostering a culture of safety and teamwork. Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, promoting a safe working environments for all employees. Budgeting and Cost Control: Develop and manage budgets for production operations, monitoring expenses and implementing cost-saving initiatives where possible. Supplier and Vendor Relations: Manage relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment at competitive prices. Communication and Coordination: Coordinate with other departments such as sales, logistics, production and maintenance to ensure smooth coordination and alignment of goals. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Qualification in Industrial Engineering essential At least 10 yrs management experience in manufacturing/steel industry. 6 Sigma Certification/experience beneficial. Must have financial background . Strong understanding of steel production processes, machinery, and equipment. Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles is desirable.
