Energy Market Analyst Salary: up to €65,000 per year salaried bonus company benefits Location: Paris, France Hours: Monday to Friday, no weekends Excellent opportunity to join an exciting renewable energy organisation Job Overview We are seeking a highly motivated Energy Market Analyst to join our clients dynamic and innovative Power Department. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the optimisation of renewable energy assets and certificates (AIB GOs, UK ROC, SE Elcert, BE GC, FR CGs, etc.), driving sustainable growth in the renewable energy market. Our client is a leading player in the energy sector, with a strong presence across France, Belgium, the Netherlands, the UK, Ireland and Sweden. They are dedicated to the development and operation of renewable energy assets and are looking for someone passionate about this industry to join their successful team. Key Responsibilities Build and share in-depth knowledge of regulatory frameworks and market structures across various geographies, including energy markets, capacity markets and reserve markets Keep up to date with the evolving rules and regulations that impact the industry within each region Combine quantitative data, market insights and personal experience to provide actionable business and strategic recommendations that support the company's objectives Continuously evaluate the fundamentals of the market, monitor regulatory changes and identify both risks and opportunities Formulate go-to-market strategies based on these assessments to maintain a competitive edge Deliver in-depth, long-term analysis of power markets by integrating external market scenarios and models, while developing and refining internal models to forecast trends and inform strategic decisions Build and maintain advanced optimisation and modelling tools that provide data-driven insights, supporting the development of new and innovative business models, such as stand-alone storage solutions and integrated solar storage systems Oversee the monitoring of key pan-European markets, including electricity, gas, CO2 emissions, EEC and capacity markets, ensuring comprehensive and up-to-date performance tracking across all regions of operation Design, implement and refine sales and pricing strategies, using a variety of tools and approaches Ensure these strategies are in line with the company's risk policies and respond to changing market dynamics Manage and monitor bidding activities across various market segments, such as reserves, wholesale, and balancing. Ensure effective market performance by continuously evaluating and adjusting bidding strategies to optimise outcomes Identify opportunities to improve bidding strategies and tools, adapting them to fluctuating market conditions in order to maximise revenue generation and optimise returns Manage, analyse, and structure the company’s diverse electricity portfolios in close collaboration with the portfolio management and front office teams Work closely with Asset Managers and Technical Experts to optimise the technical performance of our generation portfolio. Focus on key areas such as state-of-charge (SoC) management, service combinations, and maintenance planning to ensure the efficient operation of assets Partner with the Finance team to model the value of innovative products, such as structured pricing mechanisms and options. Assess the potential impact these products may have on accounting practices, financial reporting, and overall business performance Profile & Qualifications Master’s degree in Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Finance, Data Science or a related field Minimum 5 years of experience in the energy industry with a strong understanding of electricity markets Experience working with European power markets and trading desks is highly desirable In-depth understanding of relevant market regulations and processes across multiple geographies Proactive, detail-oriented, and analytical mindset Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate across departments (marketing, operations, finance, etc.) Independent worker who can also present findings and recommendations clearly Technical Skills Familiarity with technical and programming skills to build complex models, including proficiency in machine learning libraries (e.g., Keras, Scikit-Learn) is a plus Solid understanding of valuation and pricing models in a commodities environment Strong analytical capabilities, with experience leveraging optimization techniques and Data Science tools Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Next Steps If you're excited by the opportunity to make a real impact in the rapidly evolving renewable energy sector, we encourage you to apply.
