JOB DESCRIPTION INFORMATION: Job Title: Chief Information Officer Employment Type: Permanent, Hybrid / Remote Work Location: Bedfordview, Johannesburg JOB CONTEXT: As the CIO you will be accountable for overseeing, management and direction of all IT resources to achieve company objectives. and related policies and procedures, in line with the business strategy and priorities. The CIO will oversee the effective functioning of the IT Network and Infrastructure environment, telecommunications, as well as the businesss Systems environment, this includes Business Information reporting, data processing, and systems/ business development ultimately ensuring a consistently reliable, stable and supportive technology environment for all internal and external users. They must provide guidance on efficient resource utilisation based on current requirements and as well as future plans. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Creating and setting a Strategic technology plan for the division and the business that defines how technology, including IT Infrastructure, data management and applications will contribute to the business strategic objectives thereby ensuring the companys progress and growth initiatives are met. Assess the performance and suitability of existing plans, infrastructures and information systems in terms of their overall contribution to business objectives and value. Oversee the technological infrastructure (networks and computer systems) in the organisation to ensure optimal performance. Oversee the Project Management Office and will be accountable for ensuring that development capacity is effectively managed. Educate the board and executives on current technology capabilities and future technology directions, the opportunities that IT provides, and what the business has to do to capitalise on the opportunities. Select and implement suitable technology to streamline all internal operations and help optimise their strategic benefits. Enhance data governance policies and ensure it is embedded within the organisation. Further develop, implement and test business continuity and Disaster Recovery policies and activities. Management of all key Technology supplier relationships, especially the entity that provides and develops the Policy Administration System, ensuring required service delivery from a business development point of view. Engage business on requirements and develop priorities to mitigate the biggest risks and continue implementing and searching for efficiencies. (This is a PRIORITY with Process Engineering across the Business, including in the Policy Administration System or on other platforms that may integrate). Supporting better data control and distribution, especially data communication, reconciling, cleaning, relevance, exception reporting. Ensure regulatory requirements are met in terms of POPI and other related legislation (insurance specific). Design and customize technological systems and platforms to improve customer experience. Plan the implementation of new systems and provide guidance to IT professionals and other staff within the organisation. Approve purchases of technological equipment and software and establish partnerships with IT providers. Direct and organise IT-related projects. Monitor changes or advancements in technology to discover ways the company can gain competitive advantage. Analyse the costs, value and risks of information technology to advise management and suggest actions EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Matric Degree/ Diploma in Computer Science or Information Technology . Microsoft Certifications (MCSE, MCITP (DBA)). ITIL FOUNDATION advantage. Course or certificate in Management/ Leadership will be advantageous. SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENTS: At least 10 years relevant work experience within the Information Technology sphere, with at least 3 years experience in a Senior Management/ Executive capacity. Formal work experience/ background within the Financial Services Sector (Insurance Industry an advantage) . Experience in supervising and managing junior to senior IT Engineers, including Managers. At least 5 years experience in Strategic IT Project Management. Must demonstrate excellent communication skills and experience in conducting executive level presentations. Experience in the development of an integrated IT architecture to support future growth and must be able to lead technology evolution to support strategy progression. Solid background in database design and/ or administration in MS SQL. Must demonstrate current knowledge of leading technology/ tools/ platforms that will likely impact the future performance of short-term insurance service delivery. Technologies: MS.Net, Visual Basic, SQL, Microsoft, Outlook, Active Directory, Various Security Solutions. PACKAGE & REMUNERATION: Will be agreed based on qualifications, applicable experience, and previous earnings.
