About The Role About this opportunity As a member of our Technical & Environment Advisory (TEA) team, the area where the work will be performed will be Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Due Diligence and Sustainability Consultancy mainly associated to the construction and real estate industry. The ESG Lead Consultant reports directly to the TEA Director, manages the ESG team and is in charge of the development of the Gleeds France ESG activities. This position requires a self-motivated individual with strong skills in data analysis, interpersonal communication, team and time management. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Advising Directors promptly of any issues that have arisen, or that might arise, on projects; in particular those that might impact on Gleeds professional indemnity (PI) insurance. Reviewing and compiling available ESG data for individual sites or portfolios (including data acquisition, data verification, GRESB, CDP, ESG Reporting, suppliers and procurement, etc.), and create actionable plans for greener practices. Performing large-scale data management, environmental performance data analysis (energy, water, greenhouse gas emissions, waste), and support with various sustainability / ESG DD reports. On-site auditing of properties for ESG risks and solutions to improve the energy efficiency (recommend technologies and explain the most cost-effective and beneficial routes to sustainability). Assessing decarbonization pathways (CRREM, Net Zero studies, embodied carbon Whole Life Cycle Assessments, etc.), carbon footprints and set clear targets, develop robust roadmaps and strategies. Working directly with client corporate sustainability team members to develop and implement such strategies and initiatives to support their real estate decarbonization strategy. Developing climate change scenarios (measurement metrics and targets), resilience and address the “value at risk” and cashflow impact of the climate and sustainability aspects on real estate assets. Conducting SFDR and EU taxonomy screening. BREEAM (pre-)assessment Renewables pre-feasibility. Advising and assisting Clients with local EU and French applicable regulations (Tertiary Decree, BACS decree, etc.). Maintaining a high level of industry knowledge through professional development, staying ahead of changing regulatory and investor demands. Defining and enforcing the ESG strategy, proposing business development action plans in line with the overall Gleeds strategy and assisting with the Client's ESG business development. Managing projects and the team to guarantee that the deliverables are issued within the agreed deadlines, Gleeds fees and internal quality standards. Remaining in the remit of the role and when additional responsibilities need to be carried out, conduct this in a fully informed manner with the approval of your line manager. Knowledge in the interpretation of national or international environmental legislation. Knowledge in carbon/hydric footprint and biodiversity strategies. Ability to handle and interpret large amounts of information and confidential information. Excellent interpersonal skills, active listening skills and diplomacy. Ability to manage teams, work effectively with team members, motivate them, and transmit technical knowledge in an accessible manner. Ability to work within tight deadlines, adapting quickly to changes. Effective planning skills. Fluency in French and English both. Qualifications Degree in Environmental Sciences or similar, or Architecture, Civil Engineering or similar Master’s degree in sustainability-related discipline is a plus.
