Job Description
Job Title: Officer | Risk & Compliance Location: Cape Town / Johannesburg / Hybrid (Work From Home) Functional Area: Risk & Compliance Reporting to: Group Head | Risk, Compliance, and Legal Governance Key Responsibilities: 1. Risk Management: Implement enterprise risk management frameworks across operations. Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks, including operational, IT, and compliance-related risks. Develop risk policies, strategies, and automated risk assessments. Report to Exco and the board on risk trends and mitigating strategies. Educate stakeholders on risk awareness and best practices. 2. Compliance Management: Oversee compliance frameworks, monitoring systems, and regular audits. Maintain compliance registers and ensure adherence to industry regulations (Insurance Act, FAIS, POPIA, FICA). Draft, review, and implement compliance policies and training programs. Collaborate on end-user agreements and governance frameworks. 3. Stakeholder Management: Guide business units on compliance and regulatory needs during product development. Engage with subsidiaries and third-party providers to address insurance and TelCo-related risks. Foster strong communication with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment. 4. Fraud Risk Monitoring: Independently oversee fraud risk management programs. Support operational teams in implementing fraud controls and analytics-driven risk management solutions. 5. Leadership & Collaboration: Provide expertise and advice to stakeholders while aligning efforts across business areas. Drive innovation and maintain productive relationships within diverse teams Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Law, Finance, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or Risk Management. Advanced SharePoint competency. Experience: Minimum of 2 years in risk and compliance within FinTech , Financial Services , or Insurance industries. Knowledge of Insurance Act, FAIS, POPIA, and FICA. Proven experience with IT controls, cyber security, and data governance frameworks. Exposure to digital environments and client-facing business-critical operations. Key Competencies: Strong understanding of risk vs. reward principles. Exceptional communication, influence, and stakeholder management skills. Ability to navigate ambiguity and manage conflict at senior levels. Results-driven with a can-do attitude and attention to detail. Advantageous: Registration as a Key Individual (KI), Representative, or Compliance Officer under the FAIS Act. Why Join my client?
