GravitHy in a nutshell The Iron and steel industry is a fundamental cornerstone of the European Economy. It provides globally around 300 000 directs and 1.6 million indirect jobs and an estimated cumulated added value of eighty-two billion Euros annually in Europe. Nevertheless, the iron and steel industry rely on the utilization of fossil fuel and results in approximately 190 million tons of CO2 emitted annually; 5% of EU overall CO2 emissions. GravitHy is a newly created French company with global ambition to decarbonize the steel industry by producing at scale green and low carbon Direct Reduced Iron out of renewable and low-carbon hydrogen. GravitHy aims to build, own and operate a first green iron plant in the south of France to be replicated in Europe and beyond. Role and Background The Senior Engineering Project Manager (SEPM) is a crucial position for the development of GravitHy’s engineering and project execution that demands both technical and people management skills. His/her responsibility is to deliver all project engineering and design activities of GravitHy’s Fos-sur-Mer plant on time, quality and within the CAPEX targets. He/she manages the internal and external engineering teams, communicates and negotiates with internal and external partners, including the future OEMs and/or EPC and/or EPCM of GravitHy’s site. He/she will also contribute to the Permitting, Project Management, Supplier Control, Construction, Commissioning and Start Up workstreams. The Senior Engineering Project Manager will be reporting to GravitHy’s Project Director. He/she is expected to have both strong engineering and leadership skills, to be a bridge between the Engineering and the Project teams. Key Responsibilities: Engineering: To lead the development and review of the Engineering deliverables generated through the different Project stages (FEL2 & FEL3) by the FEL2, FEED, EPCM and OEMs. To monitor and control the Engineering Program progress with the EPCM through the different Project stages. To drive major design strategic choices that require GravitHy leadership team decisions, based on technical-economic analyses. To manage the internal Engineering team. To provide know-how on technical packages, as well as strategic know-how on contracting schemes such as EPC or EPCM. To lead all design activities needed to support permitting activities for the Project (preparation and instruction of the building and environmental permits). To interpret and understand engineering codes & standards and ensure they are applied to GravitHy’s design. To support the Procurement workstream in the Technical Bidding qualification for candidate OEMs. To coordinate with the Project Management team the revisions of the Project’s schedules, risk assessments, CAPEX estimates. To coordinate with the Project Management team and Procurement function the selection of OEMs. To coordinate the engineering activities during Construction, Commissioning and Start Up Project stages. To ensure robust records and controls of all Project engineering documentation Qualifications – Skills: Engineering academic background. Medium to high knowledge in several engineering disciplines (Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Structural, Automation & Control, Civil). At least 7 years experience in engineering of technically complex facilities, preferably in Downstream O&G, Hydrogen and/or Metallurgy. Including 5 years experience in managing a technical team in a complex project environment. Experience with EPC and/or EPCM projects. Problem-solving, pragmatic, solution-oriented, innovative, entrepreneurial mindset. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Ability to work effectively in cross-functional, multi-cultural teams and to work in project mode. Excellent English (written and verbal) mandatory - French is a plus.
