Job Description
Technology transactional leadership role in TMT giant , London based, 12 PQE Seeking a circa 12 PQE senior lawyer with IT, tech outsourcing and commercial experience. Our client is seeking for a dynamic, self-motivated enabling leader for a critical role within the UKI Legal team. You will be a leader who is versatile and people orientated; a leader who leads by example, focusses on team performance and creating a collaborative culture. The role of Head of Business Legal is responsible for supporting the business in UKI in making the best-informed choices for the business. The role will involve advising on a wide range of commercial matters including drafting and negotiating a broad range of arrangements, analysis and advice relating to the new technology, horizon scanning new laws and regulations and advising the business on their applicability. Projects may include IT & data licensing, data storage, software/App development, systems integration, managed services, data security, cloud services, IoT, SaaS, PaaS, AI and R&D activities. The role will include: • Drafting and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements with customers • Advising on contracts or projects in distress • Anticipating and estimating legal risks strategically and providing proactive legal solutions that will eliminate or mitigate risks • Keep the UKI business informed and up to date on new laws and regulations that might be applicable • Balance business and commercial drivers of the UKI with legal knowledge and expertise to help the company avoid legal pitfalls • Provide objective advice based on ethics and integrity •Develop a deep understanding of the UKI business and its goals for growth •Create relationships of trust and respect with key stakeholders including business leaders in UKI, Europe Legal, Global Legal and other corporate functions You will: • Lead a team of six dynamic lawyers in the UKI • Attract, develop, direct, motivate and drive performance from the team • Develop and provide training to the legal and business teams as needed • Remove barriers and unlock issues to drive the delivery of quality legal solutions • Develop and maintain relationships with external law firms and ensure any external legal support for the UKI business is appropriate and cost effective • Promote and drive the digital transformation of the function in the UKI • Actively collaborate across geographies with Europe Legal team and Global Legal Unit The successful candidate will have: • Strong academics with high quality law firm training and post qualification experience. • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills • Experience of working within a complex multinational business or high-quality legal practice with international work • Experience in leading a team • Be self-motivated and have courage to challenge and push boundaries • Demonstrate accountability for the performance of the team • A desire to invest in the training and development of individuals in the team The role is London based and five days a week. Flexible remote work is supported, but the candidate should expect to be in the London office at least three days a week.
