Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of strategic enterprise-wide projects within the banking sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, directing & co-ordinating the activities of enterprise-wide projects to ensure that project goals are accomplished and to develop project plans specifying goals; strategy; staffing; scheduling; identification of risks; contingency plans and allocation of available resources; in line with the business strategy. Location: Johannesburg Contract: 6 months (initial)- Hybrid Key Responsibilities: Project Planning and Execution: Develop, implement, and maintain enterprise-wide project plans, including project objectives, timelines, resource allocation, and risk management strategies. Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure project goals align with business strategy and objectives. Identify and prioritize projects, allocating resources accordingly to meet business requirements. Develop and manage project schedules, including task assignments, dependencies, and milestones. Project Leadership and Coordination: Lead and motivate project teams, including project managers, team leaders, and subject matter experts. Foster a collaborative environment, promoting open communication and constructive feedback among team members. Identify and resolve conflicts, issues, or obstacles that may impact project delivery. Risk Management and Contingency Planning: Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, developing contingency plans as necessary. Develop and implement strategies to minimize project delays, cost overruns, or scope creep. Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. Resource Allocation and Management: Develop and implement resource allocation plans, ensuring effective use of project resources. Manage project budgets, tracking expenses and forecasting costs. Develop and maintain project metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs). Stakeholder Management: Develop and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, including project sponsors, customers, and vendors. Communicate project status, progress, and issues to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment. Identify and manage stakeholder expectations, needs, and concerns. Governance and Compliance: Ensure project compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and industry standards. Develop and implement project governance frameworks, including project management offices (PMOs) and project steering committees. Monitor and enforce adherence to project management methodologies and best practices. Knowledge Management and Continuous Improvement: Maintain and improve project management processes and methodologies. Share knowledge, expertise, and best practices with project team members and stakeholders. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with industry trends and advancements. Requirements: Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as business administration, project management, or engineering. Master's degree or PMP certification preferred. Experience: Minimum 8 years of experience in project management, preferably in the banking or financial services sector. Proven track record of delivering complex projects on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. Skills: Advanced knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and techniques. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple project teams and stakeholders. Proficiency in MS Office, particularly MS Project, Excel, and PowerPoint. Familiarity with project management software, such as Trello, Asana, or Jira.
