Role purpose Reporting to the Head of Savings, this role will manage the Second Charge Mortgage (2CM) portfolio to ensure the delivery of expected returns and drive strategic development and profitable growth across our target market. This role will also provide support to the Savings Product team and vice versa, to help remove key person dependencies and thereby offering the opportunity to manage and develop product and commercial management skills on both sides of the balance sheet. The successful applicant will also be responsible for any product expansion within the specialist portfolio remit over time. The role will be pivotal in driving a more robust oversight approach for the 2CM portfolio, ensuring effective management with our external partners who originate and service these mortgage loans. The role holder will engage with senior stakeholders internally (within Treasury, Finance, Risk, Customer and Legal teams, as well as others) and externally. Key Responsibilities Lead the formulation of a robust oversight framework for our mortgage portfolio, understanding, managing and influencing the key drivers of the 2CM product and portfolio performance. Ownership of the trading information and narrative to support interactions with ExCo and the Customer Leadership Team. Establish and maintain strong relationships across the business treasury, finance, credit risk, legal, etc. to ensure portfolio modelling is fit for purpose and assumptions appropriately reflect current performance and provide focus on Vanquis achieving target returns. Manage relationships with existing (and potentially new) lending partners to ensure good customer outcomes are being delivered. Manage the associated risks and controls with an outsourced lending approach (origination and servicing) as is in place with the 2CM portfolio. Work with our lending partners and internally to identify opportunities to drive commercial value and continuous improvement Deputise for the Head of Savings in relevant committees / forums as required Will act as the SME for the mortgage product within Vanquis, leading on the key drivers to deliver expected returns and sustainable profits. What you bring to the team Experience of mortgage lending and the key drivers to deliver sustainable profits. Proven track record in commercial / product and pricing strategy in FS leadership positions Strong knowledge of lending products and market dynamics Understanding of regulatory, legislative and compliance requirements in the UK financial services sector Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders up to ExCo level Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in designing digitally led products Demonstrated ability to drive financial performance and achieve business targets Analytical mindset that can quickly understand how portfolio characteristics impact profitability. Strategic thinker with a strong commercial acumen. Strong communication skills both written and verbal able to articulate technical and complex detail into easy-to-understand information. A strong understanding and appreciation of compliance regulations and principles. Able to balance commercial considerations with regulatory obligations. Can cope under time pressure and manage to project critical deadlines with the ability to remain calm in times of pressure. Proven strong stakeholder engagement, influencing and collaboration skills. A track record of delivering continuous improvement articulating vision, inspire confidence/credibility and influence at a senior/ExCo level. Working Pattern: Our working style is hybrid, but we recognise the importance of collaborative working with our working with our colleagues often 2 days per week in one of our offices . More office-based working may be required during project rollouts or when we have a higher number of users in the office.
