Job Description

THE ROLE We are seeking an experienced RFP writer who will be responsible for crafting well-written, accurate and compelling responses to RFPs and RFIs for the Smart Pension Master Trust. This role works closely with the Business Development teams. The ideal candidate will have exceptional writing skills, strong deadline orientation and high attention to detail and quality. Main Responsibilities: Write tailored, persuasive and high-quality responses to RFPs, RFIs and DDQs to support the master trust’s business development efforts. Re-write / edit proposal responses from a variety of stakeholders, typically involving contributions from our operations, business development, communications, legal, product, finance and other teams. Ensure win themes are articulated in such a way to meet / exceed the client’s requirements. Deliver completed written proposal responses to the Proposal Manager against agreed RFP deadlines, escalating issues as required. Lead storyboard sessions with bid / proposal team members. Undertake market research for the kick off and solution meetings. Assist the Proposal Manager in developing a proposal structure. Maintain a strong knowledge base of the Smart Pension Master Trust offering, identifying and re-working existing pre-written content where relevant. Present and tag all new proposal content for potential re-use. Communicate and influence at a senior level. Collaborate with teams across the organisation to craft differentiated, well positioned responses; ensure that questions are comprehensively answered and that written responses are appropriately customised for the specific opportunity. Manage a structured, organised RFP process that incorporates stakeholder inputs, reviews and strict deadlines. Help support and build out the firm’s RFP process (e.g., database maintenance, updating standardised content, coordinating SME input, etc.). WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR The skills, experience, and aptitudes we are looking for are listed below but please don’t be discouraged from applying if you don’t meet every single one of these criteria – having a ‘can do’ attitude is sometimes more important than being able to tick every box: Strong academic background in English Language or equivalent is desirable. APMP Foundation or similar qualification is desirable. Relevant experience in new business proposal (RFP) writing. Pensions knowledge, particularly Defined Contribution. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Strong attention to detail in writing and editing documents is key. Knowledge of proposal automation software is desirable. Project management skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines while maintaining a high standard is essential.
