3D laser Scanning Technician

Laser scanning is the use of lasers to capture 3D spatial data in the form of a point cloud. The use of laser scanning reduces data collection errors and the need to revisit a site due to missed detail. Primarily, it is used to develop 3D scans (or models) of building elevations, floor plans as well as mapping topography. Laser scanning is effective on sites where very detailed 3D measurements need to be recorded and accurate models created, or where access is difficult. Laser scanners capture many points at varying distances and once processed the scans can be used in a variety of 2D & 3D software. The scanning technician role plays an integral part in the scanning team Perform 3D scanning using FARO Scanner Post processing (Registration) of the 3D laser scan data Perform point cloud analysis Travel is required length of stay will vary according to project needs and for the Technician to have their own vehicle. Fieldwork will require lifting and carrying the various scanners. Candidate must be able to lift heavy items safely. Extended standing may be required. Some environments may have extreme temperatures and w orking at heights, confined spaces, or underground. Admin on saving the data on NAS storage drive once project is completely registered and handed over to client Field visits including mobilizing and demobilizing the laser scan equipment Review and evaluate request from clients Point of contact and have responsibility for the activities, developments and issues concerning 3D scanning a fair amount of communication and interaction with our clients iif on site, or when clients collect and return scanning equipment. Coordinating laser scanning tasks within a project Preparing & cleaning of laser scanners that go out for Rental Assist in proposal preparation efforts as and when required. Understand the scope of work Taking care of the scanners with utmost care in alignment with the process and procedure as set out by the business
