Job Description

My client is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Treasury Accountant to join their finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing fixed asset accounting, treasury operations, and general ledger processes, ensuring compliance with financial policies and standards. This a fixed term 5 month contract and is based in Germiston, Johannesburg East. Key Responsibilities: Fixed Asset Accounting Maintain and update the fixed asset register, accurately recording acquisitions, disposals, depreciation, and revaluations while tracking asset movements and transfers. Ensure adherence to accounting standards such as IAS 16 and relevant tax regulations. Execute fixed asset system processes, including depreciation calculations and month-end closures. Conduct periodic reviews of fixed assets to assess changes in useful life and potential impairments, ensuring findings are reconciled within the asset register. Oversee asset disposals in compliance with company policies and procedures. Treasury Management Manage day-to-day treasury functions, including cash flow management, bank reconciliations, and foreign exchange transactions. Monitor cash flow to ensure adequate liquidity for business operations. Oversee bank account management, ensuring reconciliations are accurate and discrepancies are resolved promptly. Process local and international payments, ensuring compliance with authorization protocols and exchange control regulations. Manage prepayments and deposits, ensuring proper accounting treatment and proactively handling renewals and refunds to optimize cash flow. General Ledger Accounting Supervise the general ledger process, from transaction entry to financial statement preparation. Review and validate accounting transactions for compliance with internal policies and approvals. Ensure timely and accurate posting of journal entries, reconciliation of accounts, and financial reporting. Manage and reconcile petty cash, corporate credit cards, and staff advances in line with company policies. Assist in preparing journal entries, including those for salaries, accruals, and interest. Identify and resolve account discrepancies, escalating complex issues as needed. Prepare and analyze monthly cost recharges across the Group to ensure accurate cost allocations. Review VAT reports to ensure compliance with tax regulations and proper VAT accounting. Month-End Responsibilities Oversee month-end closing activities, including journal processing, reconciliations, and financial reporting to meet deadlines. Ensure the timely completion of general ledger reconciliations and financial schedules. Guarantee compliance with internal and external reporting requirements. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 3 years proven experience in treasury accounting, fixed assets, and general ledger management. Strong knowledge of IFRS, IAS 16, and relevant tax regulations. Proficiency in financial systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
