Job Description

Our Client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Business Impact Assessment and Functional Design Specialist to join their team for a significant project in the energy sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for: Development of Detailed Business Impact Assessment (BIA): Evaluate the potential effects of the system upgrade, identify critical operations, assess the impact of disruptions, and determine recovery priorities. Creation of Functional Design Specifications: Develop detailed technical requirements and design plans to ensure the new PI system meets all operational and technical standards. Collaboration with Relevant Staff: Identify all components that need to be included in the design, considering the complexity of the energy generation environment. Integration Design: Include direct porting of eDNA (Enterprise Data Management) to PI and design integration for all existing and planned interfaces, including System Platform/OMI/Custom RMDC alarm application, Advanced Analytics, Thermal Performance, Generators, balance of plant, turbines, transformers, and chemical information systems. Data Warehouse Interfacing: Ensure integration with the planned data warehouse and all identified OT and IT systems. What you’ll do: Conduct comprehensive business impact assessments. Develop and document functional design specifications. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and transition. Monitor and report on project progress and address any issues that arise. Your expertise: At least 5 years of related experience. Proven experience in business impact assessments and functional design. Strong understanding of eDNA and PI systems. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Effective team collaboration. Strong communication and documentation skills. Technical proficiency in eDNA and PI technologies. Knowledge of System Platform and OMI. Qualifications required: Related Bachelor degree or Advanced Diploma. Mandatory requirements: Detailed knowledge of Enterprise Historian/PI. System Platform and OMI certification. Computer literacy and knowledge in programming languages and database development. Expert knowledge of applying data from both IT and OT systems to an enterprise historian. Required skills: Specialist in Enterprise Historian principles. Sound knowledge of plant codification. Understanding of plant components (boiler, turbine, electrical, and auxiliary plants). Understanding of condition monitoring systems used in power stations. Superior analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and technical writing skills. Process-centric thinker. Strategic thinking skills. Good understanding of project management principles. Sound understanding of plant data acquisition. Report writing skills. Number of resources required: 2x (eDNA systems and process engineer/application engineer/performance engineer/Avaya engineer) Other information applicable to the opportunity: Contract Position: 12 Months Location: Johannesburg
