JOB DESCRIPTION INFORMATION: Job Title: Senior Business Analyst with Production Support and Testing Employment Type: Contract On-site Work Location: Johannesburg - Sandton JOB CONTEXT: We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Business Analyst, Production Support and Testing to join our team in a leading global bank. The ideal candidate will need to have a strong background in Global Markets (Financial Markets), coupled with expertise in business and analysis, production support, and testing. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring the operational stability and integrity of critical financial applications and systems. JOB SCOPE & RESPONSIBILITIES Business Analysis: o Work closely with Data Analytics and Business users to understand their requirements, goals, and pain points in order to help deliver technical solutions that meet business needs. o Define and document functional and non-functional requirements for system changes, enhancements, or new projects. o Analyze and model business processes, identify system gaps, and recommend solutions to optimize operations and increase efficiency. o Serve as a liaison between business units and technical teams, ensuring clear communication and alignment between the two. Production Support: o Provide first-line and second-line production support for core banking applications, financial systems, and trading platforms, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of critical business functions. o Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, collaborating with development and infrastructure teams to identify root causes and implement solutions in a timely manner. o Monitor system performance and transaction flows to proactively identify potential risks, anomalies, and areas for improvement. o Coordinate incident management, conduct post-incident reviews, and ensure timely communication with business stakeholders regarding system outages or disruptions. Testing & Quality Assurance: o Develop test plans, test cases, and test scripts based on business requirements and technical specifications. o Collaborate with the development and QA teams to execute functional, regression, and UAT testing for system enhancements, patches, and new releases. o Develop Test Plans, Test Strategy, Requirement Traceability Matrix experience o Support the testing lifecycle from preparation and execution to defect management and validation. o Ensure thorough test coverage and ensure that testing results align with business requirements and objectives. Stakeholder Management: o Engage with senior stakeholders across business units to gather feedback on system performance and user experience. o Assist in change management and release management activities, ensuring smooth system deployments with minimal disruption to business operations. Documentation & Reporting: o Create and maintain detailed documentation for processes, system configurations, and known issues. o Produce regular reports on system performance, incidents, and trends, providing actionable insights to management and business stakeholders. Continuous Improvement: o Drive continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities for process automation, efficiency gains, and risk mitigation. o Stay up to date with industry trends, financial products, and emerging technologies in banking and financial markets. QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE: Qualification: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Finance, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g. ISTQB, ITIL,) are a plus. Experience: Minimum 5-7 years of experience in production support, business analysis, and testing within Global Markets (Financial Markets). Proven experience supporting complex financial systems and applications (e.g., trading platforms, payment systems, risk management systems). Strong understanding of financial products, capital markets, derivatives, and treasury operations. Hands-on experience with incident management, root cause analysis, and performance monitoring of banking systems Familiarity with cloud technologies and their application within the financial services sector. Experience in DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines. Knowledge of specific tools used in financial markets (e.g., Front Arena, 360T, Market Data Vendors, Mosaic and others). COMPETENCIES: Technical Skills: Proficiency in SQL and experience working with databases for data analysis and troubleshooting. 3-5 years. Knowledge of system monitoring tools, performance tuning, and automated testing frameworks. 3-5 years. Experience with ticketing systems (e.g., Azure Devops (ADO), ServiceNow), change management tools, and test management tools (e.g., Qmetry). 3-5 years. Experience with Web services, SOAP UI, UML 3-5 years. Soft Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues in high-pressure environments. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with both technical teams and business stakeholders. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently and as part of a team. Beneficial Skills: Knowledge of Agile, SDLC, and ERP: Familiarity with these methodologies and systems is advantageous 3-5 years. Continuous Learning: Staying updated with the latest market developments, financial technologies, and regulatory changes. PACKAGE & REMUNERATION: Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
