Job Description
INTRODUCTION The South African branch of an International organisation that specialises in the purchase and sale of equipment and training is looking for a skilled and self-motivated Bookkeeper to join their team in Claremont Cape Town. Our company is represented in Sub-Saharan Africa by means of Satellite Offices. This is a full day, permanent, in-office position and the candidate will report to the Director. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES The successful candidate will be responsible for: Bookkeeping & General ledger management The full accounting function up to Trial Balance. Assist with the bookkeeping of associated entities and trusts; including loans and payments between entities. Our Office reviews the finances of Satellite offices and integrates them into the Reporting of the Group. Tax and Compliance Assisting with the preparation of Provisional Tax, Income Tax & Personal Income Tax. Preparing the VAT Reports for submission to the External Accountants. Filing CIPC Annual Returns. Accounts Payable and Receivable Process invoices, payments, and receipts. Monitor accounts receivable and payables, with bi-weekly reporting. Bank and Account Reconciliation : Reconcile local and foreign currency bank accounts and credit cards. Ad-hoc & Administrative Support : Assist with ad-hoc duties requested by management. Related administration duties and support. Maintain financial filing systems (digital and physical) Maintaining the companys Fixed Asset Register. Logistics: Facilitating imports and exports to customers with Shipping documents and invoices. Liaise with Logistics company on status of shipments and information required. Beneficial to understand VAT on Imports and Exports with SAD 500, HS codes etc to advise Clients on VAT and possible Duties. DESIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATION Education : Beneficial to have Accounting Degree or Diploma. Experience : At least 2-4 years proven experience in a similar role, preferably within an SME environment. Proficiency in accounting software preferably QuickBooks Online. Strong MS Office Excel skills. Experience in the import and export sector is advantageous. Skills : Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and financial regulations. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Effective communication and interpersonal abilities. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks. PACKAGE & REMUNERATION Salary is market related and commensurate to qualifications, experience and skills set.
