COBOL Developer - JCL/Mainframe

Key Responsibilities : Application Development : Design, code, test, and debug mainframe applications using COBOL, CICS, VSAM, DB2, JCL, and Changeman. DB2 Querying : Write and optimize queries to interact with DB2 databases. Testing & Debugging : Execute various forms of testing including unit, system, regression, and integration to ensure software quality and reliability. Code Promotion : Manage code promotion processes to production using tools such as SCLM and IN-SYNCH (preferred). Implementation Planning : Coordinate and plan all aspects of the application implementation, ensuring smooth deployment and execution. Application Support : Provide ongoing support, resolve job abends, and work on minor enhancements for production applications. Technical Solutions : Identify technical issues and implement solutions to address a wide range of problems. Collaboration : Work with cross-functional teams, including developers, testers, and operations, to ensure project deadlines and quality standards are met. Required Skills & Experience : Experience : - 6-8 years of experience in COBOL development with a solid understanding of mainframe technologies like CICS, VSAM, DB2, JCL, and Changeman. DB2 Skills : - Strong experience in writing and optimizing DB2 queries. Testing : - Experience with various testing methods such as unit, system, regression, and integration. Code Promotion : - Familiarity with tools like SCLM and IN-SYNCH for code promotion to production. Application Support : - Experience in troubleshooting job abends and implementing minor enhancements.
