VOMM Impianti e Processi S.p.A. has been developing and promoting its own technologies and thermal treatment innovative processes for over 50 years, applied to the different sectors: chemical and pharmaceutical, food, environmental, providing turn-key plants from design to start-up. Position: Process Engineer Purpose Be the technical reference point for process engineering for a specific project and interact with the Client and Vendors as key person for the discipline. Perform the design activities related to the discipline during both bid and EPC phases. Issue and/or check the deliverables relevant to the discipline foreseen by the project. Ensure that the activities related to the Process discipline within the assigned project are executed in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards and safety/environment requirement, within the specific time schedule and cost. Responsibilities and Duties Review contractual technical documentation and requirements; analyse project constraints and take prompt actions in order to solve any technical issue arising during engineering development. Plan work to meet the given schedule. Control, review and monitor any deviation from the plan and set up recovery plan, as necessary. Propose optimization/changes to minimize quantity/costs or optimize project schedule. Prepare the deliverables planning of the Process discipline, in line with the project schedule and prepare the deliverables issued by Process discipline: Heat & mass balances, P&ID’s, PFD’s, calculations reports, process and logics descriptions, data sheets, lists, procedures, etc. Participate in HAZOP, HAZID, SIL and risk assessment studies. Perform interdisciplinary checks of project documentation; participate in the interdisciplinary review meetings and ensure that process engineering is developed with the proper coordination among the other disciplines. Support the project management team in case of dispute/claims (new scope of work, cost impact, time impact, risk evaluation, etc.) and support site technicians during pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up phases. When applicable, coordinate engineering subcontractor activities. Perform or supervise the overall process of the material requisitions for internals, catalysts/adsorbents and chemicals: material requisition issues, bids technical evaluation, etc. Interact with the Vendors for technical issues, review of Vendors technical documentation, follow-up Vendors activities and attend main inspections & tests in Vendors shop. Support the commercial dept. during bid phase for new initiatives: define technical solutions, prepare preliminary calculations/plant design for quantity estimate purposes, review tender documentation and prepare clarification requests. Support the discipline manager proposing improvements to standardise procedures and design methodologies. Tutor junior process engineers. Requirements Degree in engineering, preferably in chemical engineering. 5 years of proven experience as a process engineer in industrial plants design and construction. Excellent knowledge of the main software packages and process simulation tools. Availability to travel in Italy and abroad and take long or short duration journeys for support activity to the commissioning and start-up. Contract terms will be proportional to the experience of the candidate.
