Job Description
Legal Counsel – Mid-EU Joe & The Juice has an ambitious expansion and development plan for the coming years and so has its Global Legal team. We are looking for an experienced, self-motivated Legal Counsel to be part of our exciting expansion journey in our Mid-EU region and play a key role in shaping processes and initiatives across the region. You will be responsible for assisting our Real Estate team with all expansion related matters, including negotiating our new leases alongside external legal counsel, supporting our HR teams to ensure compliant processes which support our juicers and managing corporate governance in quickly growing markets. You will be joining a growing Legal, Risk & Compliance, Payroll and Sustainability department, currently consisting of 17 employees. We are a diverse, highly skilled, international team based in Denmark, London and New York. This role will be the first team role to be based in our Paris office. The position will benefit from a very close collaboration with our Mid-EU Real Estate and Management teams. The position as Legal Counsel in Mid-EU is a newly established position, so you will have the opportunity to put your own stamp on it. You will also support Joe & The Juice’s compliance framework as well as cross-functional projects within Joe & The Juice globally including implementation of new processes and structures. The role will be reporting to our Senior Manager – Legal who is responsible for the UK and Mid-EU Regions and is based in our London office. You will work closely with not only the Legal team and Mid-EU Management team, but also experienced and motivated colleagues across the Global team, all of whom are committed to contributing to your success and professional and personal development. Key Responsibilities Assist with the negotiation, drafting, and review of lease agreements for new store locations Work alongside external legal counsel on real estate matters, ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations Advise internal stakeholders (e.g., regional management, real estate team) on legal aspects of lease agreements and store expansions Advise internal teams on all areas of law relevant to a high growth food and beverage business, including Real Estate, HR, day to day operations, corporate, commercial and IP Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts, including supply chain, software agreements, maintenance contracts, engagement letters and other types of contract applicable to food and beverage businesses Be a trusted adviser for the Mid-EU regional management team, supporting them in all projects as required Lead on dispute resolution matters including handling mediation, arbitration, or litigation Keep up to date with and ensure ongoing compliance with applicable local laws and regulations, providing training and updates to internal stakeholders Collaborate with and manage relationships with external legal advisors used across the region Key Qualifications Qualified and regulated lawyer admitted to the French bar with at least one year’s experience post qualification, ideally in Real Estate with a focus on commercial leasing Proven experience in drafting and negotiating leases in France Knowledge of other applicable areas of French law such as Employment, IP and Commercial, as well as similar matters in Netherlands and /or Belgium desirable but not required Fluency in both English and French (both written and spoken) essential, along with an ability to translate concepts from local markets to a global organisation in a simple way. Additional language skills (Dutch and / or German) are a plus Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to deal with all levels of staff and stakeholder management and to explain complex legal concepts clearly to non-legal stakeholder Excellent negotiation, drafting, and analytical skills Microsoft Office experience, specifically in Excel, Word and PowerPoint Good research skills and sound logic and reasoning capabilities An ability to work with unfamiliar topics and areas of law in different jurisdictions Personal Characteristics include A good sense of order and attention to detail combined with an ability to prioritize tasks and work independently with a good sense of responsibility The ability to balance many tasks at a time A positive mindset with a can-do attitude and spirit Ability and mindset to work in a very dynamic environment A desire to carry out a varied role and to learn and develop within the team Being a team player, eager to take an active role in a great team, both at a professional and social level and balancing ownership and responsibility with collaboration and knowledge building The Process We will be continuously interviewing and looking to making a recruitment as soon as possible, so please don’t hesitate to forward us your application.
