Mainframe Consultant Hybrid / London £65,000 - £90,000 (Engineer & Lead - depending on experience) Our client, a global leader in IT infrastructure services, is looking for a Mainframe Consultant to join their team. This is an opportunity to work on large-scale, mission-critical infrastructure, driving enterprise transformation through modernization, automation, and cloud integration. As a Mainframe Consultant, you will: Design, build, and optimize enterprise mainframe solutions across hybrid environments. Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex system and performance issues. Develop automation strategies using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools to streamline operations. Deploy and integrate mainframe solutions with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and DevOps toolchains. Enhance networking, security, and observability capabilities across mainframe and cloud environments. Work closely with Architects, Engineers, and Business Leaders to ensure scalable and resilient mainframe infrastructures. The ideal Mainframe Consultant will have: Strong experience in mainframe engineering, modernization, and automation. Hands-on expertise with z/OS, JCL, COBOL, REXX, DB2, CICS, MQ, and IMS . Experience integrating mainframe environments with AWS, Azure, or hybrid cloud solutions . Knowledge of DevOps, automation, and CI/CD tools to improve operational efficiency. Deep understanding of networking, security best practices, and high-availability architectures . Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on enterprise-scale transformation.
