Job Description
Purpose of Role: Provide effective service support to the team enabling them to fulfil their duties required for the business unit in order to meet deadlines and objective in line with policies and procedures of the company. Ensure all existing processes are followed and continuously develop new ones. Maintain delivery of high standards of support and contribute to the profitability and success of the business unit, in line with the objectives of the company. Description of the Position: Operations: Managing day-to-day activities in the workshop including but not limited to: Making sure the company's work process is adhered to in his area of responsibility Together with Engineering staff, evaluate and decide on best repair method Work scheduling Work supervision Quality of work is maintained at highest possible level Ensure good house-keeping of the work area Maintain sufficient level of tools and consumables for uninterrupted operation Ensure tools are kept in good working order Continuous improvement of above Contributing to the profitability of the Company as a whole Staff: Improving staff performance by identifying needs to effect it (tools, work conditions, training etc.) Provide hands on guidance/training to relevant workshop staff with continuous monitoring and coaching where required. Developing and tutoring apprentice artisans Managing of staff time attendance Having regular staff and work progress meetings Delegate work appropriately based on the strengths and weaknesses of the workforce Effectively deal with HR/ IR matters e.g. disciplinaries with the support of the Operations Manager Health and Safety: Drawing up Risk Assessment for work and machines used in his area of responsibility Facilitate safety training and safety awareness sessions with staff in his / her work area Enforce safety regulations and wearing of compulsory PPE Ensuring that all hazardous or harmful materials, used in the area of responsibility, are identified, handled and stored properly Ensuring that hazardous areas are clearly marked and compulsory PPE signs are displayed Ensuring the safety of visitors/customers upon entering the workshop Comply with and enforce all company policies and procedures Administration: Ensure that all work-related documents (condition reports, check sheets etc.) are duly completed, evaluated and signed Maintain Health and Safety admin Participate in creating the budget for workshop operations and then keep operations in line with it EDUCATION: Qualified Fitter and Turner or other trade qualification ( e.g Millwright etc) N6 REQUIREMENTS: 5 years management experience in mechanical manufacturing or service workshop environment Management and Supervisory skills Computer literacy - Microsoft Office 365 Ability to work under high pressure Must be willing to work outside of working hours for emergencies and urgent work Knowledge of LEAN management and Six Sigma principles would be advantageous REQUIREMENTS: Interpersonal communication skills Good customer relationship Flexibility Concern for confidentiality Follow instructions from Management without unnecessarily challenging authority Keeps to schedules Arrives punctually for work and meetings Demonstrate commitment to the organisation Maintain a positive outlook at work Handles critics well Provides others with a clear direction Motivate and empower others Set appropriate standards Innovative and proactive Sustainable problem solving Focus on continuous improvement
