Senior Backend Engineer - Java/Kotlin

Mandatory skills : Java Kotlin Developer 6-10 years Bellandur, Bangalore (hybrid) Immediate-10 days Java, Kotlin, Exp in Payment/Fintech domain preferred, solutioning, architecture, coding required We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Engineer with over 8 years of experience to join our Platform Services team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in building scalable, resilient backend systems and a passion for developing high-quality software solutions. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining backend services that leverage modern technologies and help implement the technical underpinnings of fintech money movement platform. Technologies we use : - Backend : Kotlin, Java - REST, gRPC - AWS - MySQL, DynamoDB, Redis - Kubernetes, Ambassador, Helm, ArgoCD What you will be doing : - Build, support, and operate domain platform services for fintect product engineering. - Design and develop scalable backend applications using Kotlin and Spring Boot. - Identify, scope, and lead large technical projects to evolve and scale platform capabilities. - Develop and execute short- and long-term roadmaps, balancing business priorities, user experience, and technical sustainability. - Collaborate with stakeholders across engineering, product, design, infrastructure, and operations. - Continuously evaluate and improve code quality and service reliability through metrics, monitoring, and testing. - Implement and maintain high-performance RESTful APIs. - Utilize AWS services, including SQS/SNS, to create robust systems. - Use Kubernetes for container orchestration and deployment. - Manage Aurora SQL and DynamoDB databases, optimizing performance and data integrity. - Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback. - Troubleshoot and resolve issues promptly. - Stay current with emerging technologies and incorporate them into solutions as appropriate. What you should bring : - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. - 8 years of experience in backend development, with a focus on Kotlin. - Proficiency in AWS services, particularly SQS/SNS, Aurora SQL, and DynamoDB. - Solid understanding of RESTful API design and implementation. - Experience with Spring Boot framework for building applications. - Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently. - Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members. - [Nice to have] Experience in NodeJS and TypeScript - [Nice to have] Experience working on user payment or banking product, at scale - [Nice to have] In-depth knowledge of transaction management and ledgering services and related concepts (ref:hirist.tech)
