Senior Mainframe Developer - JCL/COBOL

Job Description : Responsibilities : - Oversee the development and maintenance of mainframe applications utilizing CICS, VSAM, JCL, DB2, and COBOL. - Lead the design and implementation of UI modernization projects using CICS SFR and IBM HATS. - Participate in modernization/migration projects from Mainframe, including reverse engineering and analysis for requirement creation for new forward engineering. - Develop and maintain applications using Python for modernization purposes. - Apply basic Java knowledge and containerization skills to contribute to modernization projects. - Act as an independent contributor and technical/team lead to drive modernization initiatives. - Adapt to and work within an agile software development lifecycle and DevOps principles. - Perform analysis, design, coding, testing, documentation, and support of existing mainframe applications. - Apply proficiency in modern software development practices, such as DevOps and Agile methodologies. - Demonstrate good working knowledge of legacy modernization and microservices architecture. Expected Skill Combination (Mandatory) : - Mainframe (COBOL, CICS, JCL, DB2/VSAM) - Python - Mainframe Modernization Experience Secondary Skillset : - Java (Basic knowledge) - Containerization (Basic knowledge) Required Skills : - 6-10 years of experience in mainframe development. - Strong proficiency in COBOL, CICS, JCL, DB2, and VSAM. - Experience in mainframe modernization and migration projects. - Proficiency in Python for development and scripting. - Basic understanding of Java and containerization technologies. - Experience with CICS SFR and IBM HATS for UI modernization. - Ability to perform reverse engineering and analysis for requirement creation. - Experience working in an agile and DevOps environment. - Strong problem-solving and debugging skills. - Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Qualifications : - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. - Proven experience in mainframe development and modernization. - Strong understanding of mainframe architecture and modern development practices. - Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team (ref:hirist.tech)
