Senior Database Administrator - SQL Server

Sr SQL DBA Job Description : We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of SQL Server technologies and a proven track record of managing complex database environments. This role requires a proactive, problem-solving mindset and the ability to provide expert-level support for mission-critical SQL Server systems. You will be responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, security, and integrity of our SQL Server databases, as well as contributing to strategic projects and : - Core Database Administration : Provide comprehensive SQL Server database administration support, including installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting. - High Availability and Disaster Recovery : Implement and manage high availability solutions, including Always On Availability Groups, replication, log shipping, and clustering. Develop and execute robust backup and recovery strategies. - Performance Tuning and Optimization : Proactively monitor and optimize database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to improve efficiency. Utilize tools like SQL Profiler, Execution Plans, and Wait Statistics for in-depth analysis. - Proactive Monitoring and Maintenance : Conduct regular health checks, disk space monitoring, fragmentation analysis, and identify and resolve blocking and deadlock issues. - Incident Management : Support and adhere to the P0 and P1 escalation process for critical incidents, ensuring timely resolution and communication. - Customer Health Checks : Provide customer health checks as required, ensuring the optimal performance and availability of their SQL Server : Essential Experience : - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience. - 6-8 years of hands-on experience as a SQL Server DBA. - Expertise in all major versions of the SQL Server technology stack. - Strong understanding of database design, development, and administration principles. - Strong understanding of cloud implementations of SQL server. - Strong understanding of Windows server operating systems. - Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. - Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) are essential. - Proficiency in English (speaking and writing). - Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). - Experience in developing and maintaining operational documentation. - Experience with powershell scripting.
