Job Title : Senior SQL & PostgreSQL Database Administrator Job Summary : We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented SQL & PostgreSQL Database Administrator to manage, maintain, and optimize our database systems. The ideal candidate will ensure database reliability, scalability, and performance, with hands-on experience in both SQL Server and PostgreSQL database environments. Key Administration : - Install, configure, and upgrade PostgreSQL and SQL Server databases. - Manage database instances in on-premises and cloud environments. - Monitor and optimize database performance, including tuning queries and optimizing indexing strategies. - Design and implement backup/recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability. - Perform regular database backups and validate restore processes. - Implement database security, including role-based access control, encryption, and auditing. - Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory standards. - Set up monitoring tools to ensure database uptime and performance. - Troubleshoot database-related issues and ensure minimal downtime. - Assist in schema design, stored procedure development, and query optimization. - Collaborate with developers to design and refine database structures. - Develop and maintain automation scripts for routine tasks (e.g., backups, monitoring, alerts). - Implement DevOps practices for database environments. - Proficient in PostgreSQL and SQL Server database administration. - Strong knowledge of database design, performance tuning, and optimization. - Experience with database replication and clustering (e.g., logical replication, streaming replication in PostgreSQL). - Proficiency in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries. - Hands-on experience with database backup and recovery tools. - Proficiency in SQL, PL/pgSQL, and T-SQL scripting. - Familiarity with monitoring tools like pgAdmin, Prometheus, Grafana, or SQL Server Profiler. - Experience with Linux and Windows environments. - Good understanding of ETL processes and data migration. - Familiarity with database monitoring tools (e.g., pgAdmin, Nagios, Zabbix, SolarWinds). - Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Shell, Python, PowerShell) for automation. : Qualifications : Education : Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Preferred Skills : - Certifications in PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or cloud database technologies (AWS/Azure/GCP). - Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps integration for databases. - Familiarity with tools like pgBouncer and HAProxy. - Knowledge of NoSQL databases like MongoDB and Redis (optional) - Knowledge of containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) for database services. - Understanding of high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) configurations.
