THE ROLE You’ll be working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group, where biomedical, materials and physics engineers, material scientists, physicists, chemists, biotechnologists and biologists collaborate, each with their own expertise, to carry out common research. The Nanomaterials for Energy and Lifescience Research Line is coordinated by Prof. Guglielmo Lanzani who has extensive experience in the photophysics of organic molecules and semiconductors for application in energy and life science. The research focuses on developing and understanding light-triggered processes taking place at the biotic/abiotic interfaces. These processes will be studied starting from the design and realization of the nano-structured materials up to the evaluation of their effect on the living cells and tissues response. Within the team, your main responsibilities will be: Expand and manage the cell growth facility; Carry out experiments of cell stimulation; Morphological characterization of cells (imaging, microscopy and differentiation); Support the group providing a biological background. ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS A PhD in STEM disciplines, including Biology, Biotechnology, Biomedical engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Materials science and similar disciplines Documented experience on cell handling and/or cell differentiation Documented experience on cell physiology (patch clamp will be highly considered) Documented experience on biomaterials and microphysiological systems Motivation and experience in coaching junior scientists Good command in spoken and written English Diverse background that includes and integrates biology with bio-physics and materials science ADDITIONAL SKILLS Good team working skills in an interdisciplinary environment An open mind and the attitude toward highly multidisciplinary research The ability to properly report, organize and publish research data High motivation to learn new things and go beyond the own comfort zone Spirit of innovation and creativity Good time and priority management Ability to work in a challenging and international environment Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a highly interdisciplinary environment COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Competitive salary package for international standards Wide range of staff discounts Candidates from abroad or Italian citizens who permanently work abroad and meet specific requirements may be entitled to a deduction from taxable income of up to 90% from 6 to 13 years Please submit your application using the online form and including a detailed CV, university transcripts, cover letter (outlining motivation, experience and qualifications) and contact details of 2 references.
