Job Description
R&D Manager – Biosensors For a pioneering medtech company in Delft, we are recruiting an R&D Manager to join an innovative and fast-paced team. This is a unique opportunity to drive the development of cutting-edge biosensing technology that will revolutionize healthcare, starting with a minimally invasive continuous glucose monitoring system (CGM). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Working closely with our CTO to tackle technical challenges and optimize the performance of our CGM product and product portfolio pipeline. Independently designing, implementing, and overseeing R&D activities, including establishing technical requirements, testing hypotheses, improving prototyping and manufacturing activities, developing protocols, and analysis methods. Managing project definitions, execution, and relations with R&D partners and contractors, as well as developing outsourcing strategies. Updating the product’s R&D strategy by proactively identifying problems and implementing suitable solutions. Leading other team members in executing planned activities and providing guidance to ensure project success. Interest in continuously taking on new challenges and delivering results in a complex and multi-disciplinary environment. Analyzing results and using them to refine future product development strategies. The position may be filled remotely or on location in Delft. Part-time work is possible starting at 14 hours per week. Minimum Education and/or Experience Required: BSc, MSc, or PhD in systems engineering, management engineering, biomedical or microsystem engineering, materials science, organic/biochemistry, or similar. 3 years of experience working in the development and validation of biosensing devices. Experience working at a biosensing company that has developed devices measuring under the skin (either implantable or similar). Ideally, experience at a company developing CGM or equivalent sensors for continuous monitoring of analytes in the body, preferably using electrochemistry. Excellent internal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work both independently and in teams and clearly expose results and requirements. Product strategy development experience, with a track record of managing engineering teams to reach specific product performance goals. Additional Meriting Skills: Basic knowledge of the regulatory process around medical devices in the European Union, including MDR and ISO 13485. A history of contribution in medtech R&D projects in the fields of wearables or, preferably, class II-a or II-b medical devices. Previous work on miniaturized medical devices and/or electrochemical enzyme-based sensing technologies. Experience managing or overseeing biosensor-related developments at an established biosensing company with commercialized products. Knowledge of in-body biosensor functionalities, even if not directly involved in development, but having managed or overseen their progress.
