Every option is a winner Critical Care RN Responsibilities: ICU nurses specialize in treating critically ill patients in general intensive care units, post-op units, burn units, and other specialized, intensive care units. Most Critical Care travel positions are in hospitals, but ICU RNs can choose from many different subspecialties. Some rehabilitation facilities also use critical care nurses because of their skills with ventilators and tracheostomy tubes. An important function of Critical Care nurses is to provide education and support to patients and their families.
