Database Administrator - PostgreSQL

Experience : 5 Years (only Immediate joiners) Location : Devanahalli, Bangalore (5 days Work from Office) We are looking for an experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator with 5 years of hands-on experience in managing, maintaining, and optimizing PostgreSQL databases. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of database architecture, performance tuning, replication, and high availability solutions. Key Responsibilities : - Install, configure, and upgrade PostgreSQL databases on Linux/Unix environments. - Monitor database performance, tune queries, and optimize storage. - Implement and maintain backup and recovery strategies (Point-in-Time Recovery, WAL Archiving, etc.). - Configure and manage replication (streaming replication, logical replication, etc.) for high availability and disaster recovery. - Perform regular database health checks and proactively resolve issues. - Create and maintain documentation on database architecture, configurations, and procedures. - Collaborate with developers and DevOps teams for schema design, query optimization, and deployment pipelines. - Ensure database security, user access controls, and compliance with internal standards. Required Skills : - 5 years of experience in PostgreSQL database administration. - Strong expertise in SQL and PL/pgSQL. - Experience with tools like pgAdmin, psql, and monitoring utilities (e.g., pg_stat_statements, pgBadger, Nagios, Zabbix). - Familiarity with PostgreSQL performance tuning and optimization. - Hands-on experience in configuring streaming replication and high availability setups. - Experience with shell scripting and automation tools. - Good understanding of Linux system administration as it relates to PostgreSQL. Good to Have : - Experience with PostgreSQL on cloud platforms (AWS RDS, Azure, GCP, etc.). - Knowledge of other database technologies (e.g., MySQL, MongoDB, or Oracle). - Experience with containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes). - Familiarity with CI/CD tools and DevOps practices.
