Electrician

Purpose of the Role: To maintain, install, and repair all electrical systems and equipment in a cheese processing plant, ensuring minimal downtime, optimal safety, and compliance with food industry standards. Key Responsibilities: Install, inspect, and maintain electrical systems, wiring, and equipment related to cheese production and packaging lines. Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults on machinery such as pasteurizers, mixers, curd cutters, conveyors, and refrigeration units. Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on electrical components and control systems. Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and food hygiene regulations (e.g., HACCP, GMP). Install and maintain control panels, variable speed drives (VSDs), sensors, PLC systems, and instrumentation. Support equipment upgrades and new installations, including commissioning and testing. Record all maintenance activities and electrical modifications accurately. Work closely with production and engineering teams to minimize disruptions and support continuous improvement. Ensure safe working practices and proper use of PPE at all times. Qualifications Required: Trade Test Certificate: Electrician (Red Seal) . Matric (Grade 12) with Maths and Science. Additional training in PLCs, industrial automation, or food industry electrical systems is advantageous. Experience: 3–5 years' experience as an Electrician in a food processing or dairy environment , preferably in cheese production. Solid experience working with food-grade machinery and high-hygiene environments. Knowledge of electrical safety regulations and practices in the manufacturing sector.
